Dad found this beautiful/angry eastern box turtle in our yard. They may walk slow, but they can completely close up their shell very quickly when someone is taking their picture! Paparazzi: the box turtle’s natural enemy.

This is simultaneously one of the cutest and most terrifying things I’ve ever seen.

Africanis has recently been recognised as a breed that descended from the dogs depicted in Egyptian murals. They are the product of natural selection and physical and mental adaptation to environmental conditions over centuries, rather than the selective breeding by humans that determines all domestic dog breeds today. As such they are one of the few remaining natural dog races in the world.
