Dad found this beautiful/angry eastern box turtle in our yard. They may walk slow, but they can completely close up their shell very quickly when someone is taking their picture! Paparazzi: the box turtle’s natural enemy.

They are the product of natural selection and physical and mental adaptation to environmental conditions over centuries, rather than the selective breeding by humans that determines all domestic dog breeds today. As such they are one of the few remaining natural dog races in the world.

Meet Anzac and Peggy, an orphaned kangaroo and wombat who are reportedly best friends at a wildlife rescue in Victoria, Australia. Peggy, the wombat, is described by the Mail as “boisterous and cheeky,” as if you couldn’t tell from the photo.
